Post Chemotherapy & Radiotherapy Osteoporotic Spine Fracture

Condition:
After cancer treatment, bones may become weak due to osteoporosis, leading to spine fractures, disc prolapse, canal stenosis, and nerve root compression.

Symptoms:
Severe back pain, weakness, difficulty in movement, and reduced mobility.

Treatment:
Spinal stabilization with fixation and decompression surgery to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and restore spinal stability.

Procedure Details:
Dual-threaded pedicle screws were inserted into the L4 and S1 vertebral bodies to ensure strong fixation in the osteoporotic bone. Smaller screws were placed in the L5 vertebral body. Rods were fixed to provide spinal stability. Laminectomy and discectomy were performed to decompress the spinal canal and relieve pressure on the affected nerves.

Surgery Performed:
L4–L5 and L5–S1 posterior spinal fixation with decompression, discectomy, and laminectomy.
